Education is life-long pursuit. It is not just a course that spans for a certain number of years culminating in the graduation ceremony. There ends the training of mind ! Only through continuous education can a person have a progressive & meaningful life.
The ailment of our present educational system is that the importance of education is curtailed to narrow objectives, namely, examinations & Jobs. Our education vision must encompass the wisdom of Shri Ramakrishna "As long as I live, so long do I learn'. So conceived, education, can become a continual growth of personality, steady development of character & the qualitative improvement of life.
Education is training the mind and not stuffing the brain. This educational stagnation can be removed only by treating education primarily as training of the mind. Education that runs through out our life makes us sensitive towards the needs of the society and enables us to look squarely at the world and its problems.
Continuing education should be a progress from lower to higher stages of understanding. It enables one to effectively discriminate between the right & wrong, true or false. Such as alert person will reject the readymade opinion of others in favor of a blank sheet of paper on which to develop his/her own thoughts.
In nutshell, every individual should open his/her eyes to the immense promises of alertness, open mindedness and above all treat of enlightment that continuing education provides.
